The world famous Balmoral Park horse race track is a one-mile turf in Crete Illinois, Chicago. Illinois offers continual harness racing. It is situated on route 394, the Calurnet Expressway. Balmoral Park is a center of excellence for gamblers.

Way back in 1925 Lincolns Fields race course was built by Colonel Matt J. Winn. The large oval race track was encircled with grass imported from Kentucky. Lincolns Fields became a busy pedigree racing facility from 1926. In the year 1942 the race course downed shutters on account of World War II restrictions. Benjamin Lindheimer who was the chief of horse racing at Washington Park founded the Balmoral Jockey Club which bought Lincolns Park in 1955. In the same year the name of the track was changed to Balmoral Park.

Balmoral Park has been used solely as a harness racecourse since 1991. Episodic race meets used to take place throughout its history. The one-mile track was added in 1989. The race track’s speed mark is 1:581.

Balmoral Park was regarded in 1991 as a privileged racing turf. Balmoral Park track became Chicago’s top racing venue in 1998. Balmoral Park achieved this feat when the stake races of Sportsman’s Park were shifted there.

Balmoral Park hosts a number of popular harness races. The sum of $3.8 million on “Super Night” in September 2008 is the highest wager recorded in the history of racing in Illinois. The names of some prominent races held at Balmoral Park racing turf are the Crete Trotting Series, Champion on Ice Trotting Series, Big Dog Pacing Series, Plesac Trotting Series, Pacific Racing Series, Columbian Trot, American Nationals, Hanover Stakes and the Midwest Derby.

Telecast of simulcast races is done at Balmoral Park from race tracks around the USA and Canada.

Unusual terms describe the wide range of stakes. The precise meanings of the lingo should be known before raising a stake. For instance win, place and show are all different types of wagers that will permit you to collect money if the horse or horses chosen finish as you predicted. Names of the winning horse can be forecast in advance by a punter by phone and internet too.

The gallery has a capacity of 8,281. On February 4, 1990, 11 494 viewers showed up for the races. Superb facilities are available for the Balmoral Park race goers.
